A Community Movement Revival
This class focuses on using discipline to find freedom. It is community-focused, welcoming participants of all experience levels, bodies and identities. We practice the 5Rhythms and other somatic techniques to expand and evolve our embodiment.
The service begins with an open warm-up to help all settle in, tend to their bodies and orient. This is followed by an introduction to the practice and class focus by the instructor. Together, the group follows a 5Rhythm Wave—a cycle of movement and music that begins slow, builds in intensity, peaks, lightens, and then settles. Through verbal instructions, participants are invited to explore, in their own bodies way - a variety of movement patterns, physical inquiries, and focal points.
Invitations may include moving with partners or in groups.
This is a full participation experience, with encouragement to adapt instructions to your own limits, abilities and capacities.

INTENTION
Not to feel good - but to feel.
Not to just dance - but to be moved with purpose.
Not to 'be conscious' - but to cultivate critical consciousness.
Not to ‘be free’ - but to be disciplined in disrupting personal and collective oppressions.
Not to get healed - but to raise our own healer-ship, and to cultivate our capacity for tending the world's wounds, together.
